I have one question for all :
I have isonic 87 and i am think to buy a set of new fins. My question is wich difference about 30sl2 and 32sl4 in same condition (20 to 30kt)? Can 32sl4 much faster than sl230 downwind and upwind?
This is the trouble!!!!
bye

The sl4 is faster if you have good wind all the time.
if the wind is not regular, if you have to go " near the wind " "faire du cap", the sl2 is better.

Christine, for your information :
Faire du cap : go upwind
abattre : go downwind
vent régulier : steady wind

sail is rs6 6.2 ;
my question focus is about convenience to use always same type and model of fins reducing the length and not change the type. Everyone know that 30SL2 have same power of 32SL4, but my question is the same; If the wind increase and i have used a 32SL2 i can decide to change to 30SL2- in other hand i can change 32Sl4. I ask to myself which fins 30sl2 or 32 sl4 (same condition) can give advantage in speed and in race competition?

Bye to all

hi Christine,
i read with more attention your post (always more interesting), specially these about test is87/86 with SL2 and sl4.
Infact reading your impression about 32sl4 in chop condition, your impression aren't much positive, i seem you are much positive for SL2. Can explain again what difference you have had?

best regards

I feel the SL4 is faster than the SL2 (with the 2cm difference in length taken into account) in top speed and downwind conditions.

We use the two fins my husband and I with the is76 and the is86.

It's more the quality of wind who make the decision.
If we have un long way to do, we aren't sure to have good wind all the time. So we choose the sl2.
The sl2 give to the board a very good position over the water, more comfortable to go upwind; easyer in not steady wind.

if the wind is strong, regular, we need more slip than press: the sl4 is our choice. In these conditions it's possible win 1knot best on a average speed in a long long race...
We put 32 sl2 or 32 sl4 with 6,3 warp north sail uselly, 17 to 22knots of wind for me and 25 to 30 knots for Fabrice.
The two fins are very good...
We use the sl2 at 60%, the sl4 40%.

Both fins are excellent. You have to be fully powered all the time to make fly the SL4 and be faster vs SL2.

For 6.0-6.7 on this board, the SL4 34 is the choice. SL4 32 for 6.0 overpowered.
