Watching Starboard catalog you can read Ifca has updated boards max width at 91cm while PWA, with light wind official foil racing, seems to hold on with 85cm .

Hope Ifca will update also the 4/2 equivalent rule as I cannot figure out how you can run a 5 days event with just 2 boards (being the biggest up to 91 cm).

Hello,

Has what i heard we will have the same rules on PWA and IFCA. On the the PWA for the width big board : 91 cm , width for windfoil but still slalom light wind board and 6 / 3 on IFCA Event ... wait and see.

I've just intended PWA 91 cm as biggest for foil. As Starboard brings back the "old" 134 (together with an updated 137 still at 85 cm) I was supposing PWA could keep on with 85 cm for slalom comp.
As well as in the catalog is not clear if Ifca is going to implement foil racing in their events. It's just written 91 cm is the max width allowed in their new rules.

Thanks for sharing some more info

We will wait for confirmation .... but !

I think the biggest board on the 3 / 6 will be a convertible board. If i understand what are you saying the 3 / 6 will stay and rider will use an other board for foiling ?

My ones are just thoughts. Nothing official.
In isonic 147 notes they talk about 91 cm width as new max limit for ifca events.
Because of that I was expressing here my doubts about a good 5 days event running using just 2 boards and 4 sails.
In isonic 134 notes they say the re-editing of this shape is directly related to the fact that in PWA, when very light wind, in 2018 they'll run wind foil comps. Plus, Starboard presents a more powerful boards (new 137) still at 85 cm . Because of that I was thinking MAYBE PWA keeps on with 85 cm as max width for slalom boards (while 91 cm is the max for foiling).

In any case I really struggle to think how much new sizes/specs combinations 6 cm will bring out...
Are we sure now the 6/3 rule is the right call?

P.s. In my 10 years fw experience keep planning with 7 kts needed skills, big fins and sails plus, after tacks and jibes you had to pump like hell to keep going again. i accepted that in fw but don't think is sellable for slalom video show...

We'll see.

On my side this is beach noise ! For the 91 wide i knew since June this was in the pipe ( From a big brand manager ) and the goal is what i m saying the 91 wide will be the convertible board for foiling and Slalom light wind ... It depend, for sur, which place the foil will take in the IFCA and the PWA World ...

For the 3 / 6 on IFCA it s an other beach noise

Still many things to clarify.
I think if they allow 60 cm fin it could mean the 91 cm board can be legal ALSO in slalom with classic fins. (WTF!)
During the event wind foil and windsurf will have different results for separate disciplines or what? Wind limit/s? When windsurf starts its comp? ..... ..... .....
