Tony Wynhovenil y a environ une heure · ..hi all,
Today was crazy. The sails arrived at 9.15 at the hotel... 2 hrs before first briefing.. We grabbed them and sorted out which sails belonged to who.. Then went to the calmest area of the Hotel to put the stickers on. Finding a no wind area around here is not easy! Unrolling new sails is always fun but from first view these 2014 KA's are the best looking sails ever!! Full cred to the Martin and the team for the graphics and colours! Due to the lack of time I had to stop drooling and get to work. Once done, Daffy and I grabbed some food supplies and screamed down to the 12.00 briefing.
The wind was light so I rigged the new 6.3 Race. Upon rolling it out it attracted a small crowd of curious onlookers.. These sails look REALLY great!
The wind was around 20 knots and the course was even more broad than normal. Many sailors weren't making it down the course all the way. At 106 kg and only having the 41 mistral speed it was going to be a big call..
First effort, like most people, I couldn't start. I returned for another go and managed to get going late in the staging area. The turn down the course was very broad but the 6.3 pulled well. I managed to get to the end and while the peak was only 37.1 kn and the ratified 500 was only 34.4, it was the 2nd fastest windsurf speed for the day. I could tell this sail is special. I think it is the best 6-7 metre sail I have ever used and I am VERY excited about trying the smaller sizes and the Koncepts too.
I will take some pictures of the 6.3 tomorrow and post them. The wind will be light for the next 2 days
cheers Tony
