I sail with custom fins myself for some months now (sonntag SL-S). These fins are new on market and I helped development a bit of these fins.

Since I use these full carbon fins I know what I have missed before. The quick responsiveness/acceleration and wide range!! I used tectonics for one season, these must be the best G10 fins ever, but I like my carbon fins a bit better.

A very big group frenchies use high performance fins for years...

I think this could be it!

the short answer is quite simple - markets are still very national despite decades of single EU market. indeed, the opposite is also true: you will find custom fins on the Dutch market which you won't find on the French market.

Yes, but I think in numbers the Frenchies got more custom fins per windsurfer. Maybe custom fins are mainly sold in the country they are produced. Deboichet= France, Hurricane=Germany, etc....

Tiens?

Le sondage se transformerait-il en publi-reportage?

What about all those deboichet models SL1- SL6, I read on internet the SL4 is now favorite of most proriders?? Do you use the SL4 mostly or is another deboichet better for speed? Gasoil has this intresting concept fin with different thickness... thin for speed thick for slalom I guess

I think it is very good to support your own country topsailors by using the same stuff!! I start to understand how it sort of works :) .

Thank you for all information

an interesting side-effect of the french isolationism is how they completely missed the kashy boat (and the offspring custom fw fins in its wake) in recent years in formula windsurfing. deboichet now hardly plays a role anymore in fw fins - what a difference with pre-2007/08!

I published something on my blog about this discussion, don't get me wrong, I have big respect for the French windsurfers!

The other reason why they missed the Kashy boat is maybe because the ticket to get on board was a little bit expensive, no?
Not to mention the delivery delay...

the price and delivery period is the same all over the world...

Sure, but what about incomes?

Top french riders do not race in FW anymore (maybe Albeau next year...).

All the others are young guys who maybe can not afford to spend such an amount of euros in just one fin...

obviously, price is a factor, but it is a factor all over the world. and rest assured, (semi)pro french riders who are racing fw have in the meantime caught up, so at that level it is not about price.

I do admit that the fact that AFF gave up formula a few years ago must have played a role too. But it is just a fact that the French were just caught off guard a couple of years ago (2007, 2008) when Kashy and others hit the race course, and that was my point.

Yes the French secondhand market is interesting :o . Antoine is fast :D.

Lots of good fins for the frenchies  , makes me wonder why in my country you don't see much deboichet and gasoil... We use a lot of Select fins

and what country are you from? :?:
