It looks a bit silly but I love the combination of the Surfbent mast deviator and the rigid Chinook mast base. I had to walk back to the lounching spot when the wind completely died and I just flipped the board upside down: zero damage or drag!
"rigid Chinook mast base": you are talking about the articulated model, I assume?
Oui. Mechanical I think is the proper name

I have three questions:
- It is not fiddly to screw the mast base on with the Surfbent?
Not really. But tightening the base takes a little bit force more because the part that you twist that is now surrounded by the "bowl", not flash to the deck.

- Do you still use the round plastic plate of the Chinook mast foot (the one that is directly in contact with the deck) with the Surfbent? Or do you remove it and screw the mast foot directly onto the Surfbent?
Yes, you remove the round plastic plate. You do not really screw the mast foot onto the Surbent. The Surbent has a hole and the foot bolt goes through it, you place the nut and then it is like a regular single bolt mast foot. The bottom of the Surfbent is softer plastic to add traction against the deck.

- Do you leave both on the board permanently, or do you remove them after every session?
I leave it permanently attached because the Flikka goes on top of the rack in the Van. But would take about the same time to detach with respect to a standard base. I would not really use it on any other boards, but with the Foil I want a bit of insurance (my poor Flikka needs to be protected!!!!) and it has already proved useful when dragging the board upside down in the water.
