J'ai reçu un retour de Avanti que je vous livre tel quel :
The Icarus is a from the ground up foil sail. That in our view means a totally new power delivery in the sail compared to a normal windsurf sail.
The shaping is further forward in the sail and it also runs higher above the boom than what we would normally use on our windsurf sail.
This gives you the initial speed to get your foil generating lift. So you can use a relative small sail size.
We have dropped the clew hight quite a bit in the sail to give the sailor a comfortable stance, this also makes the sail feel really light in your hands and allow for the leech of the sail to breath also with a tight leech.
The sail has a good wind range without feeling overpowered when the wind increase.
Rotation is amazing, the sail literally flip over like nothing else you will find on the market.
I don’t have the weight of the sail, but we have used very light materials like a 4mil film in the top section (blue film)
Et entretemps j'avais contacté Miriam Rasmussen qui a eu la gentillesse de me répondre tout de suite :
I got my icarus' just three weeks ago, so I'm in the process of testing it myself right now. What I've found so far is that the icarus is a little different to most sails I've tried. its ok to rig, you have to thread the mast through the cambers like you did with the old racesails, but other than that its straight forward.
the rotation is super smooth despite its relatively deep belly
and because of the belly it has tremendous low end power, and will get you up flying in no time.
so I expected that it would be a handful in the gusts, but my limited impression is that it performs ok also here
the whole concept is a little different from the existing foilsails - its not a full blown racesail, your stance is ideally a little more upright, you let the sail just pull you.
but its far more effecient than the freeride- foil sails I've tried.
heres a video where the sail is tested and discussed, hope this answers some of your questions:
