Hi Guys,

Sorry for the english, but this seem like the only place people are talking about foiling windsurfing!

I have just made a set of foils and sailing them in Australia. I have a question though. What angle of incidence are people using on there current foils for windsurfing?

You may have seen the post "my own wings".
The AoI is what will make the lift more or less important so the fastest you go, the more the nose goes down.

The angle between the stab and the main wing is more tricky as you don't want the stab to pull down to hard as otherwise you won't be able to hold the nose down ...

Running simulations on xflr5 is a good thing to understand what is happening underwater and relate it to what you do above !

Not so many windfoils down under as I understand ?

I did see your foils, they look good.

Do you have a positive AoI on the foil relative to the flat trim of the board?

With the Stab, do you have a negative AoI?

I am using 0 deg on my foil and -1 on my stab and it does not want to fly in less then 15 knots of wind.

I dont know of any other windfoils in australia

Very beautiful work.
I am not a specialist but I find far too small wings on-surface for the windfoil.
You have to be lacking portance and thus obliged to navigate in the big wind or with big sails.
Wings have rather one surface for kitefoil.
At first sight my Afs-1 makes the double of surface.

They are bigger then a kitefoil, i agree they are on the small side of things though.

They do work in 12 knots of wind and a 6m sail

I haven't measured the angle of attack of the foil relative to the board. I think the fuselage is around+4. with the wing at 0 according to the fuselage.
One of the thing is that when you stand on the board with no wind, the nose is kind of low in the water while when you ride the flat rear end tends to be horizontal.
And thus, with +4° to take off, it becomes -4° on the board at top speed and can feel sort of strange at the beginning.

My stab is slightly positive and so also helps for early take off. It is a little down like -2 relative to the fuselage.

I should start working on another set of wings anytime soon. Hoping for early take off and a good top speed...
