Hello,

I bought a Exocet RS6 from 2014 (black with red cutouts). I use it with a 9,4 Point7 ACK (3cam) sail and a 48 cm Z-Fin (Sl-).
The problem is, that the board is riding very flat. It catches the chop when You do a downwind run.
I started with the mastfoot at 135 cm and went back to 131, but still the nose does not come up. I tried more downhaul but that had no effect. Also a bigger select S1 fin (51 cm) made no difference?
I had a Tabou Manta in the past, that was riding much more free.

Should I use a different fin or how can I change my setup so the boards rides with the nose higher?

Best regards

Alex

Hi Alex,

I don't have / I don't know the 2014-15 RS6 but all 2014-15 Exocet RS are riding very (very) flat. New 2016 shapes are very different for that.
For my 2015 RS4 and RS2 I'm riding with :
- Footstraps to the rear position.
- Mastfoot at the rear position (129 cm).
- A fin with a high lifting capacity is better, but for that part you don't have a bad fin (Z-Fin) But for that reason I'm not surprised that a longer S1 doesn't improve anything.
- You are probably riding with high pressure on mastfoot (like I do) and this doesn't help with such a board and with a big heavy sail.

Thank You for Your reply.
I will try the mastfoot even more back and also the boom a little bit higher next time.
I hope that I find a better setup, because I will use the board only with my 9,4 sail.
All in all I really like the board because it plans very well, it jibes beautifully for such a big board and it is easy to ride. But when the nose gets caught in the chop it is not nice for a slalom board.

Maybe someone who knows the Exocet RS 6 can comment on his setup.

Best regards

Alex
