I received the Noerstick RDM in late January. The 3mm rope broke the first time I tried to rig a sail. The problem is three fold: (1) the cleats on the extension are too sharp and damage both ropes immediately (see the second photo, this is after one rigging), and (2) the lower pulley actually has no pulley at all. It is just a round piece of metal and induces a huge amount of attrition, and (3) the 3 mm rope. Combined these make down hauling very hard if not impossible by hand. i used a standard chinook hand tool and the result is that the cover of the main rope broke.
If you want to use this extension I would recommend using a winch to down haul, or a down haul with no cleat. But most important try to find a strong solid double braided 3 mm rope (good luck). The rope provided is a terrible choice: thin solid dyneema core with a very fragile poly cover ... obviously it does not last long. Formuline would be ideal but it does not fit because it is 3.8 mm wide (I did try).
Other problems? The lock for the Europin is kept in place by a piece of thin elastic cord. The collar is almost razor thin. I am not sure why it is so, but the idea of having the mast seated on such a thin surface does not seem the best.
I returned the item to NoerStick.
