Past season I started testing MDM masts using a self made adapter, copied from the Slake one. One has to take care of measuring diameters (inside mast, outside RMD extension) carefully so to have good compatibility. Mind, masts inside are +/- the same, Slake as NP (my masts are based on NP protos), but extension outer diameter may vary from brand to brand.
Anyhow, using an RDM extension with an adapter, may lead to having the extension pulleys too much close to the mast axe and therefore pulling the sail pulley too "inside", +/- same as using an exaggerated tension in the tack strap. This may lead to bad totation and too much draft in the sail base. So in the end I bought a NorthSails extension that works perfectly well. In my view at now there is no practical alternative to a NorthSails extension if one is willing to use MDM masts.
